Hello Families,
We are in the thick of Holiday excitement and energy. We continue to learn and try to do our best to mix in some fun or “down” time along the way!
This week we:

*Reviewed and tested Topic 4 in math (some classes are almost done with the unit and will text next week)
*Started a new unit in science all about plant and animal adaptations -Ask your students about frog fish, sloths, and roots and branches
*Enjoyed an extra recess with Mrs. Fowler for a clean cafeteria
*Filled out a form for a new choice for Trimester 2- Ask your student about the different activities offered and which one they liked best
*Enjoyed the Teacher Spelling Bee. Ms. Kiely won!
Looking ahead:
*Festive/Holiday/Winter wear encouraged all next week-Santa hats and any other headbands are fine, but should they become a distraction I will ask the student to take it off and put it in their locker.
*Wednesday 12/18-Teacher VS Student Volleyball game during CHOICE-sneakers needed
*Thursday 12/19-Book Swap in the morning–Class Holiday Party at 1:00 (New Time!)–School Wide Sing Along at 1:45

Hello Families,

*enjoyed some new fuzzy trade in coupons-ask your kiddo which ones they have earned and used so far this year
*wrapped up our first science unit on the human body
*started the next science unit on plant and animal adaptations
*had our first delayed opening and learned that there is no snack or breakfast in the schedule
Looking ahead:

*Due to the 2 hour delay the Teacher Spelling Bee was moved to Thursday, December 12

*continue to read about life in the middle ages as well as work on parts of speech and grammar

*enjoyed the book fair
*enjoyed our first field trip to the Little Red Schoolhouse and earned fuzzies for such amazing behavior
*had fun in science learning about how the body systems work together to bend our fingers (ask them about the chicken foot…) as well as how the eye works(ask them about the cow eye dissection video)
*are working on cleaning up after ourselves. It takes teamwork to keep our shared space clean.
Looking ahead:
*Spelling–a 10 word list came home today (and is attached to this message) with most of our readers. The first page has the word list along with some tips on how to study at home, the backside has the definitions and there is a practice page to do at home. Our spelling test will be on Friday, Dec 6.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Hello Families,
I hope you are doing well this week. We have been busy learning all kinds of new things and having fun in the process!
This week we:
*continued to read and learn about the middle ages-lords vs serfs, castles and how to become a knight, nouns and adjectives and writing an informational paragraph
*wrapped up Topic 3 in math class-learning about partial products, the area model, distributive property and other methods to multiply larger numbers
*presented our Abenaki posters to the class-everyone did awesome! We then finished up Chapter 3 in social studies
*enjoyed a guidance lesson that focused on what conflict is and how to resolve times of conflict
*kicked off science-Human Body as a Machine
Looking ahead:
*Book fair at school-Our class goes on Tuesday, Nov 19-send in $ in a baggie labeled with your child’s name and grade OR set up their E-wallet
*Field Trip to the Little Red School House in Nashua on Thursday-We will be back for lunch, so nothing changes with planning lunch that day. Though, I do recommend providing an easy to eat on the bus snack from home. I haven’t looked at the weather yet, but it is usually chilly in the schoolhouse, so layers will be helpful
*Due to the field trip and one class and one teacher missing each day, we are not doing our flexible group math. Instead we will be learning about line plots within our homerooms
*I have noticed an increase in the amount of candy coming into school. I just want to put that on your radar
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
